It is a bit strange to be skiing in August, but Chile is one of the few places in the world where this is possible. We spent two weeks on the Chilean slopes, first at Valle Nevado and then at Portillo. We took ski lessons each morning and worked on what we’d learned each afternoon. Warren tried his hand at parasailing and lived to talk about it. There was a ton of snow and lots of runs to choose from at Valle Nevado. In Portillo, we watched the US Ski Team practice. Picabo Street was the only person we recognized. On our last day, we summoned up the courage to try the same run that the professionals practiced on. Megan almost made it to the top of the poma lift before eating snow and Warren slid halfway down the mountain after a successful first ten meters. After our ski trip, we visited Santiago for a day and a half and found it to be a charming city. |
